(E) Disadvantages of Bilingual Program

English is important to you to get a job, almost all of the job required their worker can speak English. Therefore some parents want their childern can speak English early. Such as the child get a English course after their school or the newest way, a school that has bilingual program, Indonesia and English. Some parents think bilingual program is the best way for childern to learn speak English. But, there are 3 disadvantages for child and parents when child in bilingual program; bilingual program is expensive, the child cannot study well and English learning not intensively.

The first disadvantages is bilingual program is expensive. That is more expensive than regular class with Indonesian language. This is happened because not all teacher can speak English well so the school magemant must search a new teacher with English skill and lesson well. Beside that, they must have a native speaker in the class and the facilities more comfortable than regular class. But I think it is same as comfortable as regular class.

The second disadvantages is childern cannot study well. You know learning math or science in Indonesian English is very difficult, moreover in bilingual program is more difficult I think. The child cannot follow a lesson, not many student in bilingual student have a problem like this. They must study harder. Sometimes child not convidence with this learning, their not comfortable. In the end, child dropout from that school.

The last disadvantages is correspond with the second. Englih learning not intensively. With the difficult lesson the teacher will stop speak English. They will speak Indonesian language to teach the childern. Allthough the childern speak English with the teacher in the class, they will speak Indonesian back when the teacher don’t. It is very vain, with the school fee more expensive. One more time I say, it’s same with regular class.

In the conclution, get a childern in English lesson early is very good but not in bilingual program. Bilingual program in Indonesia still in experimet stage. So, it is not good as we thing and the fee is very expensive. The other way is get an English course for children. That’s very simple in time, we can choose the day and time we want. The quality are different, dependent the fee we take. More expensive more good quality we have.
